About the Role:
My client are the private equity arm of a renowned investment group managing a multi-billion euro portfolio, primarily focused on B2B, mature technology businesses.
They typically acquire companies that are highly profitable and have strong growth potential but often lack a clearly defined or effective product strategy. The aim is to identify these gaps and transform the businesses to unlock greater value.
You’d likely be joining the Portfolio Operations team — a dynamic, high-calibre group comprising both commercial and product experts. The role would report into the fractional Chief Product Officer and involve close collaboration with other product leaders and investment professionals. It’s a fast-paced environment with lots of moving parts and a clear focus on impact.
Must-haves (Hard skills):
- Core user research skills: Strong focus on qualitative research, with some quantitative elements.
- Consulting and communication skills: Ability to create data heavy slides and present findings effectively.
- Product and design familiarity: Experience in working with product teams and familiarity with product design and development processes.
- B2B experience: Some experience in the B2B industry.
Must-haves (Soft skills):
- Coachability: Willingness to learn and adapt to the private equity environment.
- Quick learner: Someone who can digest a ton of information and get the gist of it without getting overwhelmed.
- Fast turnaround: Someone who’s used to quick turnaround projects with a small scope while dealing with a lot of ambiguity.
Must-haves (Logistics):
- Flexible work arrangement: Freelance role with flexible hours, from a few hours to a few days a week, with availability throughout the week.
Ideal Candidate:
- Senior IC: Director/VP level individual contributor who has reached the pinnacle of user research and open to applying their skills in PE context.
